The Benefit of a Maternity Photoshoot

Maternity sessions are uniquely tailored to capture the joy of expecting your first baby or expanding your family. Photos of your beautiful belly bump in the late stages of your pregnancy (around 30-36 weeks) will be memories to treasure forever.

The journey of pregnancy can be an emotional experience for some mothers. But, while there may be anticipation and fear of the unknown, the chances are that you have already fallen madly in love with the precious life growing inside of you.

You may also want to use your maternity shoot as a time to reveal your baby’s gender or name. Please let me know if you plan on a gender reveal, so I bring the right props to your photo shoot.

Hard to Feel Attractive for Photos

As a mother of three, my job is to help you feel comfortable and relaxed while I create flattering and natural photos that celebrate your journey of motherhood. Body image and hormonal changes are some things that I acknowledged and experienced myself during pregnancy. Your body has been busy growing a tiny human, so you may not always feel your best! I get it!

When most people think of maternity photoshoots, they think of posed photos of a mother-to-be holding her belly and smiling for the camera. However, your photo shoot can be anything you want it to be. Remember that these photos are for you, so do what feels right.

If you are self-conscious about what angles you think to look better or worse with their bodies, please discuss what positions make you feel more confident so you feel comfortable throughout your photo shoot.

Do I Have to Get Dressed Up?

The look and feel of your maternity photo shoot are what you want to make it. You may want to get your hair and makeup done to feel more comfortable. Pregnancy is when most women struggle to feel their best as growing that baby is hard work! However, getting dressed up for a maternity photoshoot might be just the thing you need to feel good about yourself.

With that being said, wear what makes you feel comfortable, even loose-fitting clothes. You need to feel good about what you are wearing. I love natural, raw and organic photos. SO if you don’t want to get your hair and makeup done, that’s perfectly fine. I love nothing more than seeing people feel beautiful in their authentic selves. When you look back on your photos, you may appreciate that you stayed true to yourself and didn’t ‘glam’ up into someone that isn’t the real you.

Maternity shoots are not just for mum-to-be but also for partners to be involved.

Where is the Best Location?

If you are local to Victor Harbor, you already know that we are home to some of the most beautiful beaches and locations. While sessions can be held at a location of your choice; however, your photo shoot can be held at the koa photography studio in victor harbor if you prefer a more intimate session.

Additionally, we can schedule beautiful golden hour photo shoots while walking along the beach, in a beautiful field or for an urban-chic aesthetic; you might want to take advantage of some of the beautiful historic buildings or streets along the South Coast. So have fun with florals or your fur baby; let’s get creative and have fun!

Don’t be disappointed if the weather doesn’t seem right on the day; I can make the most out of any climate, and stormy weather has just as many advantages as what is perceived as ‘good weather’.

Safety First

Safety always comes first! I won’t make you get into uncomfortable poses or put you in awkward situations, so I’ll constantly be checking to make sure that you are okay during your photo shoot.
